Ways to Enhance Your
Office Feng Shui
The ancient Chinese art of Feng Shui is a hot topic in interior decorating: Does the color and placement of objects really guide good energy to improve your health, success and relationships? If there is even the slightest chance that Feng Shui works, then you need to use it at your place of business. Not all of us can move the office furniture around to achieve good-flowing chi, but most workers have some amount of space where changes can be effected.
For Business Owners
If you run the company or work out of a home office, then office Feng Shui is up to you. Most important is your own position. Never sit with a corner, door or cabinet behind you. If possible, sit against a wall to receive support and protection. A picture with mountains in the background also provides support behind you. Try to sit where you can see the office door, but not directly face the door or a window. The door to your office should not have an obstacle like a wall or screen in front of it. This blocks and slows the flow of energy.
Office Feng Shui dictates that furniture should always be in scale with the room; for example, an oversized desk is out of balance and forces the energy to squeeze past.
If you own a store, your cash register should have a wall behind it for the same support and protection as your desk, and keep a red object on the metal register to prevent the metal from defeating the earth element. Also, keep a mirror beside it to use the reflection to double your intake, but never put a mirror opposite the entrance to a store or office. Mirrors reflect the good energy back and out of the door. Do not put large containers or vases near the entrance -- they collect the energy coming through the door. And finally, don’t put your business name on a carpet or doormat -- having people walk on your business name and symbol is bad for your office Feng Shui.
For Everyone
Clutter is always bad for Feng Shui energy. Always keep it cleared away whether in the home or office. This includes old files and e-mails too. Clutter isn’t always visible but all of it should be cleaned up. This also goes for files and records of transactions and legal matters that were bad for your business. The negative energy remains in them.
A token good for office Feng Shui is a set of three I-Ching coins tied with red ribbon. You can keep one of these bundles with all parts of the business that have to do with money like account books, cash register, and credit card terminals. Another very powerful office Feng Shui object is a crystal spinning globe with a dragon next to it, which should be on the right side of the desk as you face it from your chair. Spin it once a day! On the other hand, cacti and any other sharp looking object causes the energy that passes through them to become sharp and angry, so avoid those.
