Discover My Best Interior Design Ideas And The Secret To Building Your Own Built-Ins!

From The Desk Of: John McMahon

Fellow Home Renovator

I set this website up because I love beautiful interiors but can’t afford to pay the professionals. As such, I’ve become a bit of a DIY designer and renovator. A practical, well designed home should be acessable to all. That’s why I want to share my interior design ideas with as many people as possible.

Since you’ve found this website, I’m assuming you love beautiful and practical interiors as much as I do. The truth is, I’m always looking for interior design ideas and building tips. While doing some research, I stumbled upon a fantastic manuscript by Mr. Bill Baker.

Mr Baker is one of the most well known and respected cabinet makers in recent history. I noticed that most of his work was available and accounted for with the exception of one of his most important pieces of work, ‘Make Your Own Built-Ins.
You’re probably now thinking this whole book is going to be about standard built in robes. Nothing could be further from the truth. The 29 chapters cover almost every type of ‘built-in’ including:

  • How to build a low-cost Luxury kitchen...and save on materials and the sneaky little tricks that the tradesmen use.
  • How to make a built in shower and powder room. All the designs and steps are there for you to follow.
  • How to build your very own Television Storage system...which will be the pride and joy of your lounge room.
  • The secrets of how to build your wife the best Ironing centre...that will get you in her good books.
  • How to build a stunning built-on couch...where you can go and have a little snooze in total comfort.

If this is the kind of information that you have been looking for, here’s the good news…

I have contacted the original copyright owners and gained permission to republish Mr. Bill Baker’s complete work on this website. Although I had to pay to have the manuscript reformatted and published online, renovating is my passion. Therefore, I want to share this book with as many people as possible for free.

The information is second to none and you’ll soon a beautiful and pratical house that will be the envy the of your guests.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Cheers and Happy Renovating

John McMahon

Spotting Old World Style
Rome was home to 1 million folks during the first century A.D. The violent gladiator displays, the victorious marching of conquering Roman legions, and endless wars might have been too much for the sensibilities of some of her citizens that they traveled to the rolling hills of the central region of Tuscany to lead a calmer life. Two millennia afterward, the beautiful villas that they began carry on to urge on the old world style that we recognize today. Old world styling is not limited to dwellings in Tuscany; nearby Florence, Pisa, Arrezo, Livorno and other regions are also representative of old world components. What's this grand style, and how might one recognize it?

Help in Finding Decorative Books As You Design a Home Library
As an interior designer, you may design bookcases into a room and then find that your clients also need books to fill them. This is a common issue for second or third homes where the client does not have time to shop for an entire collection of books for their property.
